The Project:
The goal of this week's project is to try your hand at gear reduction. You will need to run your stepper motor for 200 steps, but move a character (Mario or any other character) from 90 to 180 degrees. To do this, you will need to use a gear train with at least 4 gears - note if you choose to build a planetary gear system, as long as you have 3 planet gears you satisfy the requirement. Each team member must design at least 1 gear.
Success = +/- 50 degrees
Super Success = +/- 5 degrees
You may NOT use any pre-made gears or software that creates gears for you.
Designing the Gears and Casing:
First, we used Gear Generator to quickly create a rapid sketch of our gear reduction.
We then used Onshape to cad design our gears using the given gear dimensions from the gear generator and other gear equations.
After designing the gears on Onshape we then made a casing for the gears to sit on top of and also store our electronics underneath.
